This program is designed to provide students with a strong set of technical skills in addition to a broad background in food safety and regulations, food product development, processing technologies, food production, food and nutrition management, public health, nutrition policy, wellness, healthcare, education and research. The MSc. degree is a natural continuation of studies for students who have received a baccalaureate in Food Science, Human Nutrition or a related scientific area, and are interested in furthering their knowledge in Food Science and Human Nutrition. The program offers a comprehensive graduate program that prepare students for leadership positions in food science or the nutrition fields.
- Students will complete 36 credit hours throughout two years to obtain Master’s degree.
- Pathways / Minors of the program: Food Science or Human Nutrition
- Students who wish to obtain a Postgraduate Diploma must complete two semesters (18 credit hours) successfully, if they have completed all compulsory courses in the two academic semesters. They can leave the program after applying for it and fill out the application form.
- The student must hold a bachelor’s degree in food sciences or human nutrition or its equivalent from a university recognized by the Omani Ministry of Higher Education and should fulfill the following requirements:
- A minimum GPA of 2.7 (out of 4.00) or a GPA of 2.3 and above with at least three years of professional experience in a related field.
- Obtained an average of not less than (6) in the IELTS test or a score of (78) in the TOEFL test (internet-based).
- Students who intend to join the program and have already completed relevant courses from other universities must pass an interview and successfully pass bridging courses (12 credit hours in food sciences and human nutrition).
- In case a student is unable to achieve an IELTS score of 6 and obtains a score of 5 or 5.5, they may enroll in the Postgraduate Qualifying Program (PQP) to fulfill the admission requirements for the program.
