I am Dr. Hilal Alrahbi, currently serving as the Dean of the College of Applied and Health Sciences at A’Sharqiyah University. With over three decades of experience in clinical practice, academia, research, and leadership, I have contributed extensively to nursing education and the wider health sciences field. My career has focused on developing academic programs, enhancing student learning experiences, and fostering a culture of research and innovation in higher education.
I hold a PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Villanova University, USA, as well as a Diploma in General Nursing from Oman College of Health Sciences. I am a licensed Registered Nurse in Oman and USA (Pennsylvania and Florida), and have been recognized with several awards, including the Education Leadership Award (2023) and the Distinguished Achievement in Academics and Service Award from Villanova University.
My research interests span across diabetes self-management, patient safety culture, health education, and clinical decision-making. A growing part of my work is also dedicated to applied health sciences research that directly informs practice, policy, and community health outcomes.
I am an active member of several national and international professional bodies, including The Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. I am a licensed Registered Nurse in Oman and USA (Pennsylvania and Florida). I also act as an External Reviewer for the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality of Education (OAAAQA).
I have led and participated in several funded research projects, including an external grant from The Research Council (TRC) and internal grants on different topics such as public health and safety. Current projects include studies on academic advising, diabetes self-management interventions, and community-based health research such as adherence to car seat belts.
