Universities Research & Enterprise Committee (UREC)

The University Research and Enterprise Committee (UREC) main aim is to develop research and enterprise strategies and policies to ensure excellence in research and enterprise across the University

  • Main Practices

1. develop and implement the University’s Research Strategy;

2. build research capacity and establish research and enterprise priorities;

3. develop and review policies, procedures and regulations governing all research and enterprise activities at the University;

4. propose improvements to University facilities to support research and enterprise;

5. recommend the budget to support research and enterprise activities;

6. facilitate and strengthen the links between teaching, research, consultancy and industry;

7. oversee the ethical and biosafety issues in research through the University Research Ethics and Biosafety Committee to ensure that all research activities involving human, animal or other genetic/biohazardous considerations are well-planned, managed and monitored;

8. form subcommittees from among the members or others as deemed necessary by the Committee to execute the work;

9. report regularly through committee minutes and annually to the University Academic Board on the effectiveness of the committee’s oversight of research and enterprise activities, policy and practice.
