The program aims at the production of qualified technicians who are competent in the area of electronics and communications and who are able to work in a globally competitive marketplace. The Diploma in Electronics and Communications Engineering program teaches students about the technology and tools required to support professional engineering practice during the implementation, and maintenance of telecommunication networks in the public and private sectors due to the growing demand for such networks. The curriculum was chosen to concentrate on the practical application of engineering principles to the solution of real-world electronics and communications engineering problems.

Students seeking admission to this program must fulfill the following minimum entry requirements:
(a) should have successfully completed the courses of all subjects of the general education diploma or equivalent;
(b) should achieve the standards set for the subjects of the General Foundation Program;
(c) should have studied subjects which qualify him/her to be enrolled in programs in the College of Engineering;Pure Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry;
(d) must be medically fit.
