Aims

This course aims to provide the students the Basic mathematical knowledge and accustomed them with the necessary terminologies to meet the cognitive and practical requirements of Pure and Applied mathematics and in a variety of academic disciplines where mathematics plays a vital role.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Describe the set of real numbers, identify all its subsets and its properties.

Demonstrate an understanding of exponents, perform operations on polynomials and simplify rational expressions.

Solve linear equations, quadratic equations and inequalities. Also model real life problems with equations and inequalities.

The Cartesian plane and understand algebraic geometry.

Use the fundamental trigonometric identities and apply knowledge of trigonometry in real life problems.

Manage Time, accept responsibility, carry out

research skills, take notes and develop presentation skills.
