ABOUT A’SHARQIYAH UNIVERSITY
A
'Sharqiyah University (ASU) is a private institution of higher education.
Accredited by Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance
of Education, located in A 'Sharqiyah North Governorate of the Sultanate of
Oman. It is located in Ibra, the capital of the Governorate, which is about 150
km from Muscat. ASU consisting of three colleges was established in 2009 by
Ministerial Decision (78/2009) issued by the Ministry of Higher Education,
Innovation, and Research. In 2025, student enrolment at ASU exceeded 11,400
with students studying in five colleges offering 56 different degrees, 41 of
which are at the undergraduate level and 15 at the graduate level. The
following shows the degrees offered at ASU per college:
1.
College of Engineering:
Undergraduate
degrees at the Bachelor of Engineering level include Energy Engineering,
Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental
Engineering, Science in Water Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity
Surveying and Commercial Management, Science in Cyber Security, and Artificial Intelligence Engineering.
Graduate
degrees at the Master of Science level include a Master of Science in
Engineering Management (this degree belongs to George Washington University and
is offered at ASU whereby half the courses are taught by GWU faculty and the
other half by ASU faculty).
2.
College of Applied and Health Sciences:
Undergraduate
degrees at the BS level include Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Medical Lab
Science, Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, Industrial Chemistry, science in
Mathematics, sciences in Biology, and Science in Nursing.
Graduate
degrees include a Master of Science in Food Science and Human Nutrition.
3.
College of Business Administration
Undergraduate
degrees at the BBA level include Management, Accounting and Finance, Management
Information Systems, Internet and IT, Records and Archives Management,
Logistics and Supply Chains, Team Entrepreneurship, Data Science Analytics, and
Estate Management.
Graduate
degrees include a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Business
Administration (Leadership), Master of Records and Archives Management, Master
of Science in Accounting, and PhD in Management (Business Administration –
Leadership and Governance).
4.
College of Arts and Humanities:
Undergraduate
degrees at the Bachelor of Education level include English Language, Arabic
Language, and Mathematics, Basic Education Field 1, Basic Education Field 2,
Arts in Counseling, Arabic Language and literature, and Physics Education.
Graduate degrees at the Master of Arts level include MA in
Curriculum Development and Teaching Methods, MA in Educational Psychology, and
a MA in Arabic Language and Literature.
5.
College of Law:
This
college offers a Bachelor of Law, Master of Law in Private Law, Master of Law
in Public Law, and Master of Law in Personal Status Law.
