Energy and Sustainability Research Centre (ESRC)

The Research Center for Energy and Sustainability (ESRC) capitalizes on the current engineering laboratories and capabilities at ASU to promote research and collaboration with other institutions and attract consultancy projects in energy and sustainability. The center lays the foundation for pursuing interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research and education in energy and sustainability, which are highly needed by various industries and align with the strategic goals of Oman.

The ESRC seeks to be a leading research hub in Oman, driving innovation and excellence in energy and sustainability, and contributing to a green economy that aligns with Oman Vision 2040.

·       Mission

The mission of the ESRC is to advance high-quality applied research and foster collaboration between academia, industry, and the community, positioning A'Sharqiyah University as a central hub for energy and sustainability research while ensuring the long-term impact and sustainability of the center.

·       Objectives

The objectives of the ESRC are aimed at supporting Oman Vision 2040 in moving toward sustainability and a green economy. These are:

  1. Promoting ASU hub for energy and sustainability research in Oman.
  2. Esatablishing a strong relationship with industry at A'Sharqiyah region and Oman in general.
  3. Expand the existing laboratory infrastructure by establishing new, specialized laboratories focused on green hydrogen and wastewater treatment research.
  4. Developing a long-term roadmap for the sustainability of the center.
