ASU policy for Conference Support Fund
The purpose of this policy is to encourage, facilitate and regulate the participation of faculties and staff at ASU in professionally oriented programs like conferences, seminars, meetings, workshops etc. both nationally and internationally. CSF is awarded only if the applicant has a research paper accepted for presentation at the above mentioned events. The maximum value of the award is 500 OMR.

Policy on Short Term Collaborative Research Visit Overseas
As per the mission and vision, ASU is committed for excellence in research in the fore front areas of science and technology, education, management and media. ASU recognizes that collaborations are vital part for advancing scientific knowledge and would facilitate and strengthen interaction among ASU faculties and research institution abroad in the research areas of mutual interest.

Major objective being:

  1. To widen the network of faculties/researchers from ASU and their foreign counterparts that can create utilization of common resources in an agreed time frame.
  2. To increase international recognition of the conducted research.
  3. To improve research quality and increase scientific publications.
  4. . To improve the citation index of ASU faculty/researchers.

ASU will grant a research leave for the faculties during summer and in between the Semesters for carrying out the collaborative research work. The faculties are advised to avail their research leave without affecting their teaching hours. The value of the award from ASU is 600 OMR.

ASU Internal Research Grants: ASU Faculty Seed Fund for Research (ASU – FSFR) 

The ASU – FSFR program is designed to enhance the research mission of ASU through supporting research projects for the faculties that can be
sustainable through external funding. Through this research funding ASU supports the faculties in becoming competitive enough in securing external funding.

Objectives being:

  1. To enhance the research mission of ASU
  2. To support and encourage promising faculties to initiate their research
  3. To develop scholarly activities and creative research initiatives at the campus and to foster academic excellence within the university
  4. To provide seed money to test new ideas in their preliminary stages before enough data have been gathered to submit a proposal for external funding.

ASU Policy for Operation and Utilization of the Research Funds
The rules and regulations of research fund utilization is aiming to support and establish a strong research administration at ASU. Utilization of research fund at ASU follows the general rules and regulations pertaining to the financial affairs of ASU. Above it, for externally funded project, ASU will abide the rules and regulations of the Funding agency in the utilization of the fund.

ASU Policy for Transfer of Research Project
In case the Principal Investigator (PI) or Faculty Mentor (FM) resigns from his/her position or leaving the project vacant, then the PI ship or FM ship of his/her research project would remain suspended until the appointment and transfer of the research project to new PI or FM as directed by the University Research committee (URC). ASU Policy for Recruiting research staff
The purpose of this policy is to recruit research staff for the research position funded by external funding agencies or funded by internal research grant while adhering to the best practice of recruitment and selection in compliance with ASU HR policies and procedures as well as internal and external regulations. Research ethics policy
The purpose of this ASU research ethics policy is to encourage quality research and research culture, with the high level standards of integrity and practice. This policy applies to address the research needs of ASU and applies to all staff and students engaged research activities at ASU.
