Opening ceremony program
The ceremony started with an address by His Excellency/ Mohamed bin Ali Al Alawi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees who expressed heartfelt thanks and praise to the blessed and generous support of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Allah blessed him. He stated that ASU was founded as the first private University in A’ Sharqiyah North and South governorates, and it received the first batch of students in the Academic year 2010/2011 and from this moment, the management has endeavored in applying the beliefs of our beloved leader in providing opportunities for education. He concluded the speech with thanks to His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said for sponsoring this ceremony, which coincides with celebrations of the 47th national day. The ceremony featured a choral appreciation and gratitude to his Majesty Sultan Qaboos-Allah protect him, with participation of ASU staff, students and a group of acclaimed poets. Following this, a visual presentation was delivered which simulated ASU’s student diary, followed by an Operetta highlighting the role of the University in education, scientific research, training, international cooperation, community service and humanities performed by a group of students representing each character of the University. They illustrated the University’s academic majors and what they can offer to students. Afterwards, the Royal Navy of Oman musical band performed a musical show. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the chairman of the board of trustees presented a gift to his Highness before taking a tour around the campus.
