A’Sharqiyah University (ASU) is pleased to announce that it received approval from the Ministry of Higher Education to run its Team Entrepreneurship program that was submitted by its College of Business Administration (COBA). This program is considered to be one of the most innovative programs in the field of entrepreneurship and the first one in the Middle East. COBA will be launching this program in the near future with support from Tampere University of Applied Sciences in Finland which developed its original idea a few years ago. The Team Entrepreneurship program attracted wide international interest and reputation due to its reliance on untraditional means of delivery and its ability to produce academic people who are ready and qualified to engage in the world of entrepreneurship.
In this program the tutor assumes an advising role and divides the students into several teams that work collectively and collaboratively to establish and register real businesses. The experiment proved to be successful in Finland where up to 40 percent of the students registered on this program were able to successfully develop their businesses within two years after graduation. Almost all of the remaining students were able to find employment with private businesses and establishments within six months after graduation.
